The Mizen

Mizen

The world is full of magic things
patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.
W.B. Yeats

The Mizen Peninsula in West Cork is an area of outstanding natural beauty. It stretches 34km from the gateway village of Ballydehob, all the way down to the rugged cliffs of Mizen Head, Ireland’s most south westerly point. Mount Gabriel dominates the skyline, towering over Schull and Roaring Water Bay, home to the Carbery Hundred Isles and the larger, inhabited islands of Sherkin, Heir and Cape Clear, beyond which stands the Fastnet Rock and wild Atlantic ocean.

In these photographs I attempt to give a small glimpse of the breathtaking coastline of the Mizen and how it has come to inspire and influence my latest body of work.
